We've been working on getting the insulation into the walls of the house. It wasn't too hard but it get quite uncomfortable as the fiberglass was irritating to the skin. The worst part was that the weather was hot so wearing long clothing to cover up wasn't ideal.
We ended up getting all of it in and started on the drywall now. Moving along quickly!
The rainy season has definitely been upon us. I think the past month has seen at least 2 weeks of rain. Luckily, we were able to get the walls and roof water-proofed. Now we can work with the rain pouring and still stay dry inside.
It has been a busy December with the holidays and everything but we have made some progress.
We got most of the exterior walls up as you can see. We also had the roof trusses dropped off and have them set on top of the house.
We were able to finish getting the walls up and the roof trusses up. The trusses were pretty difficult to deal with as they were heavy but we got them in the end.
We started framing the house last week. It's been about 10 days so far and we've done all of the walls. Now all that's left is to finishing some of the blocking/backing. Now we just wait for the trusses to go on, which will hopefully be next week sometime!
So after digging the trenches, we started the concrete foundation phase. The concrete took about two weeks to complete. Everything is moving pretty quickly, which is great.
So after demolishing the first lot, we started digging the trenches for the foundation. This took about a week with a mini-excavator and later a large backhoe. The dirt was much more solid that we initially expected so it took more time than anticipated.
After finishing the foundation trenches, we went ahead and did all of the underground plumbing. Typically, we set the forms for the foundation first but because there was some delay, we decided to go ahead with the underground plumbing first.
So we broke ground in Richmond for this house in early October. The demolition took nearly two weeks to remove the majority of the asphalt/concrete parking lot that has been there since the 1920's.
